UPDATE: Public Enlightenment Still Standing Up For Reality In News
Developing ways to increase media literacy and move the masses takes time. Thank you for your patience. Now, a video.
I’m writing this post to ask for forgiveness. It has been a little while since I posted. Some of you have pledged paid subscriptions and probably wonder if I was just writing regularly about media reform as a way to trick you into giving me all your money (a classic grift).
I have spent the last month acquiring a powerful computer and developing skills upon it so that I can bring you more content in a variety of ways. My goal is not only to introduce people to fact-based, pro-democracy sources of information, but also to subvert right wing and corporate media power by exposing their failings.
Right wing media’s failings are obvious. The Rupert Murdochs of the world regularly traffic in lies and hate and sell that to the public as “news.” It should be all of our life’s missions to expose that reality to fellow citizens who are under right wing media’s spell.
Corporate media pushes anti-democratic and hateful narratives in pursuit of profit. While there are journalists who work for these outlets who do great work and need our support, the overall end product of corporate newsrooms cannot help but normalize fascism and dumb us down. We must also guide our friends and family away from corporate media.
There are articles on this website to help you find and promote healthier information (just go to the Find Healthy Information tab on the homepage). I will be growing that resource over time. Again, apologies for my pace. There are just so many pieces to put in place.
Another exciting piece of my achieve-better-outcomes-thru-better-information puzzle is developing nicely.
I will be launching my own news and information show. It will be hosted on YouTube and Twitch. I will send an update soon with the schedule of the show. But you can also help my effort by subscribing to both of those channels so you can boost my account and always stay up to date with what’s happening. The show will be a space where we can check in on the news, pushback on harmful narratives and agendas, and celebrate great journalism and ways to grow it. It will be an interactive space where we can chat and build a community to help us endure the tough times ahead.
Thanks for your patience and I look forward to going on this journey with you.
